what to expect
At Noue Yoga we create classes that help you to Nourish your body, Optimise your health & movement, Unwind your Mind and which empower you to take control of how well you are able to move in your body.
Noue Yoga classes focus on the super trio; Stability, Mobility & Flexibility, viewing them as a team that work together to create healthy movement patterns. The ultimate aim is to help you to develop strong, healthy & happy movements. Here is a run-down of each type of class on offer:
Tuesday evening - Yoga for Mobility & Strength
A hybrid between a Strong yoga class and a mobility session, these classes will help you build strength in your muscles through holding yoga poses that require engagement of our muscles, whilst also improving mobility as we move joints dynamically through their full ranges of motion.
Combining these with postures that stretch our muscles can improve our functional movement in everyday life and in exercise we complete. Expect to see some of your favourite yoga poses such as the Warriors, but with mobility drills intertwined to create fun & challenging flows which keep you on your toes (quite literally at times!).
Wednesday morning - Flow into the day
Start your day with intention with this gentle wake-up flow. This yoga class is designed to gradually awaken the body through soft, flowing movements & gentle stretches, as well as using mindful breathing practices to focus & calm the mind. We’ll gently work to open up the body, creating space — physically & mentally — to set you up for the day ahead. Expect to leave feeling refreshed, grounded, & ready to take on whatever the day brings.
Wednesday evening - Slow Strength Yoga
Designed to challenge both body and mind, Slow Strength focuses on developing deep, functional strength through control & stability. This yoga class combines core stability work, balance challenges & slow, controlled movements to develop muscular strength & body awareness. Expect isometric holds that fire up your muscles in a whole new way, alongside focused transitions that demand control & precision. It’s less about speed, more about building slow strength as you connect to your body.
Thursday evening - Yoga to unwind & reset
Also known as a good stretch session, a chance for your muscles to stretch & your mind to unwind. not only does that sound nice, but Active recovery is an essential part of living a healthy life. recent studies have found that active recovery increases blood flow to muscle tissue, reduces lactic acid build up & soreness. These classes will focus on stretching muscles, improving flexibility & getting blood circulating around the body to aid muscle recovery.
In all Noue Yoga classes, you can also expect:
A warm welcome! I will be your cheerleader as you learn to move in your body better!
Achievable poses that can be tailored to suit your body.
Explanations of why! Learn how each move is helping, where it is stretching & strengthening. These are classes for the curious!
A considered class structure that balances nourishing movement, physical challenges and blissful moments of rest.
Playfulness and embracing imperfections. We all wobble in poses, we all turn the wrong direction in class sometimes. In our classes, this is all part of the fun.
What do you need to
know before your Yoga
Class at Vale Crossfit?
All you need to know before coming to yoga at Vale crossfit…
any comfy clothes
You do not have to be wearing Instagrammable skin-tight leggings and sports bras. I personally like to do my own yoga practice in comfy joggers and a t-shirt. It just needs to be something that is comfortable and doesn’t restrict your movements.
to complete your student form
Before practicing Yoga with me, it is essential that you fill out the Student Form that will be sent to you before class. This helps me to understand if you have any injuries that I need to be aware of. You will not be granted access to the class unless this form has been completed and returned to me. I understand that paperwork isn’t fun or relaxing but your health is always a top priority.
Please note: None of these classes are suitable for Pregnancy or in the 6 months following giving birth.
water
Yoga or no yoga, hydration is important! Often when practicing yoga, I like to take little breaks to sip on some water, so you might want to think about having a bottle of water nearby for hydration.
food (or maybe not!)
There are no rules to say that you can’t eat before a yoga class, and a little pick me up for energy may be exactly what you need. However, from personal experience, I would recommend not eating a full meal too soon before the class. I’ve been there and it is not a nice feeling lying on your tummy in a yoga pose with a belly full of food!
a good mindset
Be ready to challenge yourself, give it your best shot, speak kindly to yourself and remember that every body is unique so avoid comparison with other students.
a mat
If you have your own mat, please bring it along, but we can supply you with one if not. We also have some blocks and straps that can be used throughout the classes to enhance your postures.
