About noue yoga

Welcome to noue yoga! I’m so glad to see your smiling faces here. 

noue is an acronym for 4 very important words: Nourish. Optimise. Unwind. Empower. These words represent what I, as a yoga teacher, aim to bring to all of my classes and share with my students. So, what do these words mean for me in everyday life? 

nourish

The modern world can be a harsh place for our bodies & minds, from office jobs where we are seated all day, to the constant news cycles. It is important to take the time and care to Nourish our bodies and minds, let them move, let them rest. Nourish to let them flourish.

optimise

Every body is unique, every body has strengths and weaknesses. Every body can be optimised using science-backed yoga and wellness practices to work better, more efficiently, more healthily and more happily. We can learn to optimise our own bodies so that we can move them better and for longer. 

unwind

It’s important to schedule time into your day to get into a flow state and let your body, and more crucially your mind, have some time to unwind. Release it from the swirling pool of thoughts, to-do lists, self-criticisms and busyness and get it to a state of calm awareness and clarity.

empower

Here at noue, we’re all about empowering ourselves to take control of our mindset, empowering ourselves to make good decisions for our health, and empowering ourselves to feel good in our bodies. You’ve got the power!!

So now you know about Noue, it's about time I introduced myself.

Hi, I’m Katie. I am a qualified yoga teacher who trained at the wonderful Stretchy Suzie’s Yoga Studio in Cardiff. I have an absolute love and curiosity for the body, how it works, how we can move it, and how we can optimise it to help us get the most out of the experience that is life. I feel incredibly grateful that I get to share everything I learn with you all!

I have always been a real nerd (meant in the most positive sense), having studied Maths at University, and my love for learning has only continued to grow. So how did I get from Maths to yoga? Well, as many of us discovered during the pandemic, life can throw you some curveballs! I, like many others, got covid, and then was later diagnosed with long covid. This turned my whole world up-side-down, negatively in many ways, but it also taught me some incredible lessons. It reminded me that each day is a privilege, that health is wealth, that we should be kind to ourselves and others, and has helped me look at my body, the world, and other people with a new sense of wonder and awe. 

I am very grateful that a mix of time, yoga, mindset, and many other things have helped me get back to living a full life in a strong and healthy body. All of this led me to want to learn how to further improve my own health and wellbeing with yoga. And then of course to be able to share it with others in my community (online or in person). And that is how noue was born, through a want to mix my love for science and research, the amazing practice of yoga and wider wellbeing practices, and the community built through sharing ideas. I continue to be curious and passionate about delving deeper into yoga; the anatomy, philosophy and science and love to challenge myself to explore new movements and practices on and off of my yoga mat.
