Online Yoga Classes for Beginners

New to yoga? Or perhaps an experienced yogi who wants to get back to basics and focus on the foundations of your practice. Either way, you are so welcome at noue yoga classes for beginners.

These classes aim to teach yoga in a progressive way, assuming no prior knowledge or ability (that’s right, you don't have to be flexible or speak sanskrit to practice yoga!).

class structure

In each class, we will focus on a certain area of the body and learn foundational poses that can help us to stretch and strengthen this area (as well as some science answering why it is good for us!). although each class focuses on one main area, each class will be well rounded so the whole body feels the benefit!

The classes follow an 8 week curriculum so each week we will build on what we have learnt in the previous weeks to build strength and confidence in our movement. each class will cover flowing movement with the breath, a deep dive in how to do new postures, and an introduction to breathwork and mindfulness

yoga is more than just the physical postures, so although it is a physical class, you will also learn how to bring yoga philosophy into your everyday life to help you to reap the full benefits of a yoga practice.

What do you need to

know before your Yoga

Class for Beginners?

All you need to join the yoga class for Beginners is…

a device with internet connection

you will be sent a link to a pre-recorded class that can be viewed on a device that has access to the internet.

to complete your student form

Before practicing Yoga for Beginners with me, it is essential that you fill out the Student Form that will be sent to you before class. This helps me to understand if you have any injuries that I need to be aware of. You will not be granted access to the class unless this form has been completed and returned to me. I understand that paperwork isn’t fun or relaxing but your health is always a top priority.

water

Yoga or no yoga, hydration is important! Often when practicing yoga, I like to take little breaks to sip on some water, so you might want to think about having a bottle or glass of water nearby for hydration with your relaxation.

food (or maybe not!)

There are no rules to say that you can’t eat before a yoga class, and a little pick me up for energy may be exactly what you need. However, from personal experience, I would recommend not eating a full meal too soon before the class. I’ve been there and it is not a nice feeling lying on your tummy in a yoga pose with a belly full of food!

a good mindset

Be ready to challenge yourself, give it your best shot, speak kindly to yourself and remember that it is wonderful being a beginner.

An area for you to practice

It doesn’t need to be huge, just big enough for you to lie down on the floor on your back, and to swing your arms around when you are standing (so have a little play swinging your arms and having a nice little relax on the floor before class to check you’ve got some space). Please also check the area where you’ll be doing the class to make sure that there are no obstacles or hazards (standing/lying on Lego during yoga is not recommended for relaxation!!).

any comfy clothes

You do not have to be wearing Instagrammable skin-tight leggings and sports bras. I personally like to do my own yoga practice in comfy joggers and a t-shirt (or sometimes even pajamas on the weekends!). It just needs to be something that is comfortable and doesn’t restrict your movements.

props

For a beginners yoga class, you do not need any special yoga props. All of the yoga classes for beginners can be done with no additional equipment. However, there are a few things that might enhance your practice. It is a weird collection but I would recommend gathering:

  • A dressing gown tie, work tie, or even a long sock/pair of tights (great to use as a yoga strap)

  • Some books or parcels (something to use to rest your hands on, stand on, or sit on in some poses instead of yoga blocks)

  • Blankets, cushions or towels (comfort is king and sometimes yoga poses can be made more accessible or more comfortable for your body with the easy addition of something soft)

  • Socks/jumper/something warm (at the end of the class, in our relaxation time, your body can sometimes feel a bit cold as it rests, so some additional layers can help you to relax and really unwind)
